A Note From the Principal

October 18, 2026

Dear Piney Woods Elementary Families,

We hope you had a wonderful Fall Break! We are excited to welcome our Wildcats back as we begin the second nine weeks of the school year. October will fly by, and before we know it, 2027 will be here! We look forward to an exciting few months of learning, growing, and making memories together.

Here’s what’s happening this week:

October 19–22: Book Fair
October 20: Fall Festival
October 21: Unity Day — Wear Orange! 🧡

We hope you’ll join us for our Fall Festival for an evening of family fun! Enjoy games, prizes, and a chance to shop at our Book Fair. We look forward to seeing our Wildcat families on campus for a fun-filled evening together!

As we begin this new nine weeks, please remember the importance of attending school every day and staying for the full school day. Every minute of instruction matters and helps our students grow!

Fall Party Pre-Registration

Fall Party Pre-Registration is OPEN!

Fall Parties will be on October 29th, and we’d love to have you join us!

A few important reminders:

• ID must be scanned at Piney Woods. Need yours scanned? Stop by the Front Office Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–3:00 PM.

• Visitors must be listed in Skyward as a parent/guardian or emergency contact.

Party Schedule:

PK & Kinder: 10:30 - 11:30

2nd & 4th Grades: 11:30 - 12:30

1st Grade & Skills: 12:30 - 1:30

3rd & 5th Grades: 1:30 - 2:30

Veterans Pictures

We’re so excited to celebrate the amazing Veterans of our Piney Woods students! Our annual Veterans Day program is coming up on November 11th, and we’d love to honor all the Veterans among our student families. Please send us your photos, including the Veteran’s name and the student(s) they represent, by emailing them to pwetransportation@splendoraisd.org.

Flag Retirement

Splendora Air Force JROTC will conduct a formal flag retirement ceremony on Saturday, October 24th at 10:00AM at the C6C Campus.

If you have any old or frayed American flags that need to be retired, we invite you to drop them off at our front office. Our AFJROTC cadets will collect the flags and ensure they are retired with the honor and respect they deserve.

Attendance Matters

For the 2026–2027 school year, our goal is to reach 96% attendance! Regular attendance is essential to your child’s academic growth, success, and engagement in learning.

Attendance notes can be sent directly to the Attendance Office at PWEattendance@splendoraisd.org.

October Campus Attendance Challenge: “Pumpkin Smash: Smashing Attendance Goals”

One student’s name from each class that had perfect attendance for the month of October will be drawn for the opportunity to throw a pie at the face of their favorite administrator.
Teacher in each grade with the highest student attendance percentage will get to climb the ladder and smash a pumpkin. The kids then decide who is the winner!

District Attendance Challenge: At the end of the school year, all students who maintain perfect attendance from bell to bell throughout the entire school year will be rewarded with a field trip to Splendora Skating Rink!

Students arriving after 8:35 will be marked tardy and must be accompanied by an adult to the front office. Students arriving on or after 9:30 will be marked absent.

Foundation Corner

Men (& Women) Who Cook on Saturday, October 24, at The Nathaniel Center in Kingwood. It’s a fun evening of food, community, and support for our schools. Tickets go on sale September 24, and we’re still welcoming chef teams, sponsors, and auction donations.

Campus Information

Campus Visitors: Must present valid ID and sign in.
Early Check-out: If your child has an appointment, you must check them out before 3:30 pm.
Afternoon Transportation: Changes must be submitted in writing by 2:30 pm. You may send a handwritten note with your child or email the front office at pwetransportation@splendoraisd.org. For safety and security, we cannot accept transportation changes over the phone

Breakfast & Lunches

Every child will receive free breakfast & lunch for the 26-27 school year.
You can use this link to add money to their account for snacks & extras. https://www.schoolcafe.com/splendoraisd
When visiting for lunch, you may only provide food for your student. Only those listed on your students' skyward can bring lunch to your student or sit with them during lunch.

Transportation

Morning Drop-off Time:

Enter and exit using Entrance H off FM 2090.
Students cannot be dropped off until 7:50 am. For student safety, please pull up to the side door.
After 8:35 am, students are counted tardy and must be dropped off at the front of the school.

Afternoon Dismissal:

Enter using Entrance G off FM 2090. Follow the signs. Stay to the right of the driveway.
Pass the crossover driveway, continue to the tree line, and turn around.
Display your car rider tag clearly.
Note: If you do not have a tag, you must park and pick up your car rider tag in the front office.
If arriving before 4:00 PM: Stop and wait before the crossover driveway.
At 4:00 PM: Pull around to the side of the building and wait.
Exit using Entrance H off FM 2090.
