A Note From the Principal

September 27, 2026

Dear Piney Woods Elementary Families,

This week, we’re celebrating College Week and encouraging our students to be future ready! Students will hear about different colleges and universities and are encouraged to show off their favorite college gear.

Strong educational habits start in elementary school. Being at school all day, giving their best effort, and getting involved in clubs and organizations help students build the skills and foundation they need for future success.

At PWE, we’re helping students dream big, build strong foundations, and prepare for the possibilities ahead!

A big thank you to our families for supporting the Big Kahuna fundraiser! We’re well on our way to our goal, and I’ve loved seeing the excitement over prizes and our mascot’s classroom visits!

SMILE! Fall Pictures are October 7th

Students will get a QR code paper that parents can scan to preview photos. Please use this link to pre-order pictures: https://shop.imagequix.com/g1001468571. Pre-orders are not required.

Attendance Matters

For the 2026–2027 school year, our goal is to reach 96% attendance! Regular attendance is essential to your child’s academic growth, success, and engagement in learning.

Attendance notes can be sent directly to the Attendance Office at PWEattendance@splendoraisd.org.

September Campus Attendance Challenge: “Recess Rocks” The grade level with the highest attendance percentage will receive an extra 30 minutes of recess.

District Attendance Challenge: At the end of the school year, all students who maintain perfect attendance from bell to bell throughout the entire school year will be rewarded with a field trip to Splendora Skating Rink!

Students arriving after 8:35 will be marked tardy and must be accompanied by an adult to the front office.

Quest For Excellence

26-27 UIL Academic Competition

Calling 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th-grade students to join our UIL, Academic Teams! The competition will be held on Saturday, January 23rd, 2027. Coaches have already begun recruiting, and teams have a limited number of participants. Scan the QR code on the flyer below if your child is interested in trying out for a team!

Foundation Corner

Once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat!

Splendora ISD Education Foundation is inviting alumni to show some love for their graduating class through our Class vs. Class giving challenge. Every gift made in honor of a class counts toward its total and helps us support Splendora students and educators. The Class of 2001 is currently in the lead, but there’s still time for another class to rally!

You can also support the Foundation at Men (& Women) Who Cook on Saturday, October 24, at The Nathaniel Center in Kingwood. It’s a fun evening of food, community, and support for our schools. Tickets go on sale September 24, and we’re still welcoming chef teams, sponsors, and auction donations.

Campus Information

Campus Visitors: Must present valid ID and sign in.
Afternoon Transportation: Changes must be submitted in writing by 2:30 pm. You may send a handwritten note with your child or email the front office at pwetransportation@splendoraisd.org. For safety and security, we cannot accept transportation changes over the phone.

Breakfast & Lunches

Every child will receive free breakfast & lunch for the 26-27 school year.
You can use this link to add money to their account for snacks & extras. https://www.schoolcafe.com/splendoraisd
When visiting for lunch, you may only be provide food for your student. Only those listed on your students' skyward can bring lunch to your student.

Transportation

Morning Drop-off Time:

Enter and exit using Entrance H off FM 2090.
Students cannot be dropped off until 7:50 am. For student safety, please pull up to the side door.
After 8:35 am, students are counted tardy and must be dropped off at the front of the school.

Afternoon Dismissal:

Enter using Entrance G off FM 2090. Follow the signs. Stay to the right of the driveway.
Pass the crossover driveway, continue to the tree line, and turn around.
Display your car rider tag clearly.
Note: If you do not have a tag, you must park and pick up your car rider tag in the front office.
If arriving before 4:00 PM: Stop and wait before the crossover driveway.
At 4:00 PM: Pull around to the side of the building and wait.
Exit using Entrance H off FM 2090.

Early Check-out:

If your child has an appointment, you must check them out before 3:30 pm.

Transportation Changes:
