A Note From the Principal

September 13, 2026

Dear Piney Woods Elementary Families,

We have a fun-filled week ahead at PWE! We’ll start the week off with Celebrate Freedom Week, which gives our students an opportunity to learn about the freedoms, rights, and principles that make our country special and to reflect on the importance of the U.S. Constitution. We’ll wrap up Freedom Week with “We the People Day” on Thursday, September 17, by wearing our red, white, and blue!

Dot Day is Tuesday, September 15! If you didn’t know, Dot Day is a celebration inspired by The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. It encourages students to “make their mark” by embracing creativity, courage, and the idea that everyone has something special to contribute.

We’re also excited to kick off our fall fundraiser on Thursday afternoon and look forward to hearing how our exhibitors do at the East Montgomery County Fair!

PWE will also begin Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences. Your student’s teacher will reach out to let you know when conferences are available.

Finally, Friday is a student holiday, so there will be no school for students. We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend, and we can’t wait to see our Wildcats back on Monday!

With gratitude,
Mrs. Hill
Principal, Piney Woods Elementary

Once a Wildcat, Always a Wildcat!
In celebration of Homecoming, the Splendora ISD Education Foundation is hosting a Class vs. Class Alumni Giving Challenge! Alumni are invited to donate in honor of their graduating class, and we’ll track which class shows the most Wildcat pride.

Consider giving an amount inspired by your graduation year—for example, a 1991 graduate might give $19.91. Please include your class year with your donation so your class receives credit.

The Class of 1980 has already set the bar high with a $3,800 gift supporting all 19 of our first-year teachers. Help us celebrate Homecoming by sharing the challenge with the Wildcats in your life!
