A Note From the Principal

August 30, 2026

Dear Piney Woods Elementary Families,

It was a wonderful week at PWE! We were so excited to welcome our parents and guests back to campus and loved seeing so many of you for lunches and at our PTO Bingo Night. Thank you for being such an important part of our PWE family!

We will have two days of Beginning-of-Year MAP Math testing this week. During testing days, we will have a closed campus to help provide our Wildcats with a quiet, focused environment for testing. PWE will be closed for lunch on Wednesday 9/2 and Thursday 9/3.

Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we give our students the best opportunity to show what they know!

Attendance Matters

For the 2026–2027 school year, our goal is to reach 96% attendance! Regular attendance is essential to your child’s academic growth, success, and engagement in learning.

Attendance notes can be sent directly to the Attendance Office at PWEattendance@splendoraisd.org.

District Attendance Challenge: At the end of the school year, all students who maintain perfect attendance from bell to bell throughout the entire school year will be rewarded with a field trip to Splendora Skating Rink!

Students arriving after 8:35 will be marked tardy and must be accompanied by an adult to the front office.

Campus Spotlight

Library Rotations started this week through Specials! Our Wildcats learned all about the library and how we love our books when we borrow them.

Grandparent's Day Breakfast

Pre-registration is now open. Please register by September 8th to help avoid long wait times.

Grandparents' Breakfast Registration.

Email registrations will not be accepted.

Important: Your ID must be scanned into our system to complete registration. If your ID has not been scanned, please stop by the Piney Woods Front Office between 9:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. Monday-Friday before September 8th.

Grandparents may attend only on their student's designated grade-level day.

Grandparents must be listed on the student's Skyward account.

September 10: PK - 2nd Grade @ 7:50 - 8:30

September 11: 3rd - 5th Grade @ 7:50 - 8:30

Quest For Excellence

26-27 UIL Academic Competition

Calling 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th-grade students to join our UIL, Academic Teams! The competition will be held on Saturday, January 23rd, 2027. Coaches have already begun recruiting, and teams have a limited number of participants. Scan the QR code on the flyer below if your child is interested in trying out for a team!

Safety

Safety Is a Shared Commitment: August 31–September 4

At Splendora ISD, creating safe and supportive schools takes all of us: students, staff, families, and our community. During August 31–September 4, our campuses will participate in activities designed to strengthen safety awareness, preparedness, communication, and connectedness across our district.

Throughout the week, students will engage in age-appropriate conversations and activities that help them understand what it means to be Safe. Seen. Supported. From knowing what to do during an emergency and identifying trusted adults to understanding when to speak up and recognizing how individual choices contribute to a safer school environment, each activity reinforces one important message:

Safety is not just something we practice; it's a commitment we make to one another.

We encourage our parents and community partners to continue these conversations at home and to help us reinforce a culture in which everyone understands their role in keeping our schools safe.

Foundation Corner

Educator Grants Turn Great Ideas Into Student Opportunities

Last year, one Foundation educator grant helped create an arcade-style reward experience where students can celebrate their achievements in a fun and memorable way. It is just one example of how educator grants bring creative ideas to life and make a direct impact on Splendora ISD students.

Our 2026–2027 Educator Grant cycle is now open! Splendora ISD educators may request up to $3,000 individually or $6,000 as a team for innovative programs, resources, and learning experiences.

Educators, we would love to hear your ideas! Applications are due September 28 at 5:00 p.m.

Parents and community members who would like to learn how they can support educator grants and help bring more great ideas to life are encouraged to contact the Splendora ISD Education Foundation or visit www.splendoraisdeducationfoundation.com.

Campus Information

Campus Visitors:
Afternoon Transportation: After Monday, August 17th all transportation changes must be communicated with PWE front office in writing.

Breakfast & Lunches

Every child will receive free breakfast & lunch for the 26-27 school year.
You can use this link to add money to their account for snacks & extras. https://www.schoolcafe.com/splendoraisd

To become a volunteer or attend a field trip with your child, complete your volunteer application TODAY.

Transportation

Morning Drop-off Time:

Enter and exit using Entrance H off FM 2090.
Students cannot be dropped off until 7:50 am. For student safety, please pull up to the side door.
After 8:35 am, students are counted tardy and must be dropped off at the front of the school.

Afternoon Dismissal:

Enter using Entrance G off FM 2090. Follow the signs. Stay to the right of the driveway.
Pass the crossover driveway, continue to the tree line, and turn around.
Display your car rider tag clearly.
Note: If you do not have a tag, you must park and pick up your car rider tag in the front office.
If arriving before 4:00 PM: Stop and wait before the crossover driveway.
At 4:00 PM: Pull around to the side of the building and wait.
Exit using Entrance H off FM 2090.

Early Check-out:

If your child has an appointment, you must check them out before 3:30 pm.

Transportation Changes:

Changes must be submitted in writing by 2:30 pm.
You may send a handwritten note with your child or email the front office at pwetransportation@splendoraisd.org. For safety and security, we cannot accept transportation changes over the phone.
